Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi regarding the ongoing nuclear negotiations. The diplomatic effort reflects Qatar's longstanding role as a mediator in regional disputes. Meanwhile, President Trump signaled he was not satisfied with Iran's latest proposed deal, underscoring the significant gap that remains between the two sides and the mounting costs of the prolonged standoff.

After years of waiting, Mass Effect fans may soon find themselves spoiled for choice. Three major science fiction RPG projects are currently in various stages of development: the next official Mass Effect from BioWare, believed to be targeting a 2028 release; Exodus, a spiritual successor to Mass Effect Andromeda from former BioWare developers; and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, developed by Owlcat Games — the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader — and based on the beloved Amazon Prime series.

The central question is whether any of these projects can truly capture what made Mass Effect so iconic. The series has now achieved the status of a classic, meaning fans tend to remember it through a lens of nostalgia that smooths over its many flaws. Living up to such an idealized memory is an enormous challenge for developers, and the bar is arguably higher precisely because the original games are no longer judged on their actual merits alone, but on the emotional weight they carry for players.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn presents an intriguing case. Science fiction enthusiasts have long imagined their favorite franchises reimagined as BioWare-style RPGs, and now one such dream appears to be materializing. The Expanse is set primarily within a single star system, which might seem limiting, but its world of cramped orbital habitats and prefabricated colonies could actually work in the developer's favor, reducing the need to invent entirely alien environments and societies from scratch.

Owlcat's task is made somewhat easier by the fact that much of The Expanse's production design already exists from the TV show. Rather than designing entirely new alien cultures, equipment, and architecture, the team can extrapolate from established visual references. The studio will not need to determine what an alien's breathing apparatus looks like or how a multi-species society functions logistically — the universe is entirely human, grounded in recognizable near-future technology.

Exodus, meanwhile, positions itself as a more direct spiritual successor to the Mass Effect formula, developed by veterans who worked on the original series. Its pedigree gives it a level of credibility that a licensed adaptation might struggle to match. Together, these three projects suggest that the space RPG genre — long dominated by Mass Effect's legacy — is entering a new era of competition and creativity, with players ultimately set to benefit from the rivalry.
