iOS 26.5 also includes additional features beyond encrypted messaging, most notably the introduction of advertisements within Apple Maps. When users open the app after updating, a pop-up informs them that Maps may display local ads based on their approximate location, current search queries, or the area visible on their map. Apple has stated that advertising data is not linked to a user's Apple account, suggesting an attempt to balance monetization with the company's broader privacy-focused brand identity.

Alongside iOS 26.5, Apple simultaneously released updates across its entire product ecosystem, including iPadOS 26.5, macOS Tahoe 26.5, watchOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, and visionOS 26.5.
