CENTCOM said its forces responded with self-defense strikes against Iranian military facilities, including missile launch sites and command and control locations.

Iran, in contrast, accused the United States of breaking the ceasefire by striking an Iranian tanker moving through the strait. Iranian military officials stated their forces retaliated immediately, claiming to have caused significant damage to U.S. vessels east of the strait. The conflicting accounts from both governments highlight deep mutual distrust and the volatile nature of the current ceasefire, which began on April 8 as a temporary two-week truce before being unilaterally extended by Trump.

The military clash occurred at a particularly sensitive diplomatic moment, as Iran was reportedly reviewing a U.S. proposal designed to end the broader conflict and open the door to nuclear negotiations. Grinding Gear Games, the New Zealand-based developer behind Path of Exile 2, has announced plans to release the game's full version 1.0 later this year. Game director Jonathan Rogers made the announcement during a press briefing for the game's final early access patch, version 0.5.0, titled 'Return of the Ancients,' which is due at the end of May. Path of Exile 2 entered early access in early December 2024, and the studio believes it is now close to being ready for a full launch.

Rogers indicated that the 1.0 release is planned for sometime after ExileCon, the official Path of Exile convention scheduled to be held in New Zealand in early November. The upcoming 0.5.0 patch is focused almost entirely on reshaping the game's endgame content, which Rogers described as the last major element that needs to be resolved before a full release can be justified. He expressed confidence that the 1.0 target is achievable, contingent on players responding positively to the updated endgame systems.

Despite Rogers' optimism, several significant content areas remain incomplete. Most notably, two full campaign Acts—Acts 5 and 6—are still missing, which would bring the game to its intended six-act structure. Rogers acknowledged that concerns about the timeline are understandable, but reassured the press that development on those Acts is well advanced. He stated that most of the environmental work for Act 5 is already done, and Act 6 is also progressing, with boss design and play testing representing the main remaining tasks.

In order to meet the 1.0 release target, the studio has decided to make concessions on character classes. Originally, Grinding Gear Games had planned to include 12 playable character classes in the full release, but Rogers has revised that commitment. He explained that he no longer believes it is essential for all 12 classes to be present at launch, and that the priority is ensuring that whichever classes are included are fully polished, complete with their ascendancy subclasses and full skill sets.

Rogers emphasized that additional character classes will continue to be added to the game after its 1.0 release, framing the missing classes as future content rather than broken promises. This approach reflects a broader trend in live-service gaming, where developers launch a product and continue building it out over time. The studio's immediate priority is delivering a stable, well-rounded version 1.0 that satisfies players, with further classes planned as post-launch additions in the months and years to come.
